Find the range of each function: (i) f(x) = (5x - 3)/(4x + 7), (ii) f(x) = (7x + 9)/(3x - 5).

Correct answer: (i) R - {5/4} (ii) R - {7/3}

Solution

For f(x) = (ax+b)/(cx+d), range = R - {a/c}. (i) a/c = 5/4, so range = R - {5/4}. (ii) a/c = 7/3, so range = R - {7/3}.
