A circle of radius 5 m has an arc of length 6 m. Find the angle (in degrees, minutes and seconds) subtended by this arc at the centre. (Take pi = 22/7.)
- 68 deg 43 min 38 sec
- 60 deg 0 min 0 sec
- 68 deg 18 min 18 sec
- 70 deg 12 min 0 sec
Correct answer: 68 deg 43 min 38 sec
Solution
theta = 6/5 = 1.2 rad; in degrees = 1.2 * 180 * 7 / 22 = 1512/22 = 68.7272... deg, which is 68 deg 43 min 38 sec.
