20 mL of a KOH solution is titrated conductometrically with 0.2 M H2SO4. The conductivity-vs-volume plot is V-shaped with its minimum (equivalence point) at 15 mL of acid added. What is the concentration of the KOH solution?
- 0.3 M
- 0.15 M
- 0.12 M
- 0.075 M
Correct answer: 0.3 M
Solution
At the V-minimum (15 mL acid), neutralization is complete. Moles H2SO4 = 0.2*0.015 = 0.003 mol; each provides 2 H+, so moles KOH = 0.006 mol. Concentration = 0.006/0.020 = 0.3 M.
