Q1. Read the following information carefully and answer the question given below: Eight persons K, L, M, N, O, P, Q and R live in an eight-floor building. Each of them owns bikes of different companies, viz. Pulsar, Fazer, Splendor, Himalayan, Gixxer, Duke, Unicorn and Apache, but not necessarily in the same order. The lowermost floor is numbered 1 and the topmost floor is numbered 8. L lives on an odd-numbered floor and likes Fazer. Four persons live between P and K. Only three persons live above R, who is just below N. There are three floors between the one who likes Duke and the one who likes Unicorn. K likes Gixxer and lives below N but does not live on an even-numbered floor. There are three floors between the floor on which R lives and the floor on which M lives. No one lives above the one who likes Unicorn. Two persons live between the one who likes Gixxer and Splendor. The one who likes Apache lives just above the one who likes Pulsar. There are four floors between the one who likes Fazer and O. P likes which of the following bike?
- Himalayan
- Apache
- Pulsar
- Unicorn
Answer: Unicorn
This is a floor-and-attribute arrangement puzzle. The clues about R, N, K, P, and the bike positions force a unique arrangement, and the bike assigned to P comes out as Unicorn. The top-floor restriction for Unicorn is especially important in reaching the final placement.
Q2. Passage: Seven persons — A, B, C, D, E, F and G like different fruits and eat them on seven different days from Monday to Sunday, but not necessarily in the same order. The fruits are Watermelon, Apple, Banana, Guava, Grapes, Orange and Kiwi, but not necessarily in the same order. A eats guava immediately after D. E neither eats grapes nor watermelon. D neither eats banana nor watermelon. F eats banana two days before E. The person who eats grapes is the last one. C eats kiwi on Wednesday, and there are two people between C and the one who eats orange. B eats fruit three days after A and does not eat apple. Which of the following day and fruit combination is true for C?
- Thursday - Banana
- Monday - Watermelon
- Tuesday - Guava
- Wednesday - Kiwi
Answer: Wednesday - Kiwi
The passage directly states that C eats kiwi on Wednesday. Therefore, the correct day and fruit combination for C is Wednesday - Kiwi. No further deduction is needed for this question.
