ExamsIBPS POReasoning

Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below. Eight persons J, L, F, B, C, O, S and W sit in a row, not necessarily in the same order, such that some of them face north and some face south. Not more than two persons sit adjacent to each other facing the same direction. The number of persons sitting between F and C is a multiple of 3. O sits 5th to the left of C, who faces north. B and L sit immediate left of each other and neither of them sits adjacent to O and C. An equal number of persons sit to the left of both B and W. O and S sit adjacent to each other and both face the same direction. O does not sit at any of the extreme ends. Who among the following pairs do not face the same direction?

  1. W, C
  2. J, B
  3. O, B
  4. F, O

Correct answer: F, O

Solution

Using the positional clues, the complete arrangement can be derived uniquely. Once the directions are assigned consistently with the restriction on adjacent same-facing persons, F and O are found to face opposite directions, while the other listed pairs do not satisfy the condition.
