Six people live on different floors numbered 1 to 6. Q lives just below R (R’s age: 5 years). Only two people live between Q and U. The one aged 10 lives below Q. The one aged 20 lives on the topmost floor. S does not live on an odd-numbered floor. S lives between U and Q (S’s age: 15). U is 5 years older than P. T does not live on the topmost floor. The one just above T is 3 years older than T. Q lives on an even-numbered floor but not on the 4th floor. On which floor does R live?
- 3rd
- 5th
- 1st
- 4th
Correct answer: 3rd
Solution
Q must be on an even floor other than 4th, so Q is on the 2nd floor. Since R lives just above Q, R is on the 3rd floor. The remaining clues are consistent with this placement.

- Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below: There are 16 floors in a building. Six persons A, B, C, D, E, and F have to attend a unique function, which is organised on different six floors. No two functions are organised on the same floor. There are 6 lifts which are faulty, i.e., if button 2 is pressed in a lift, it may stop on 2 or above 2. Each person uses a different lift. The different functions are Anniversary, Birthday, Meeting, Interview, Orientation, and Shooting. - There is a gap of one floor between the floors on which B and F step down. - B uses lift 2 and steps down on an even-numbered floor above F. - The difference between the button number that F pressed and the floor on which he steps down is 11. - C steps down on the floor that is pressed by F. - Lift 1 stops on the floor on which Anniversary is being conducted. - Interview is conducted on the floor just above the floor on which Anniversary is being held. - There is a gap of 3 floors between F and D. - F steps down above D. - C attends the Meeting. - The number of floors between A and D is the same as between E and C. - A steps down on the floor immediately above the floor on which E steps down and he uses lift 3. - The sum of the floors on which lift 4 and lift 5 stop is 17, and lift 5 stops on an even-numbered floor. - D attends Birthday and is above the floor on which A steps down. - Orientation is organised on the floor below the floor on which Shooting is held. On which floor does B step down?

- Direction (17–21): Read the given information carefully and answer the question. Ten people G, H, I, J, K, L, W, X, Y and Z live in a building with four floors. Each floor has three flats—Flat 1, Flat 2, and Flat 3—from left to right. The ground floor is numbered Floor 1 and the topmost floor is Floor 4. Each flat is built such that Flat 1 of Floor 2 is directly above Flat 1 of Floor 1, and so on. The two flats in which no one lives are on an even-numbered floor and in an even-numbered flat. G does not live on an even-numbered floor and in an even-numbered flat. W lives in the flat just above H. The flat between K and X is vacant, and K lives in one of the flats above X. L lives in an odd-numbered flat which is to the left of X. Z and Y live on the same floor, and no one else lives on that floor. G lives on a floor and in a flat just above W’s floor and flat. I live on one of the floors on which one flat is vacant. Z and I both live in Flat 1. Who is living just above X?
