ExamsIBPS POReasoning

An uncertain number of people are sitting in a row facing north and are at equal distances from each other. The number of people sitting to the left of A is the same as the number sitting to the right of H. G is sitting third to the right of D, who is sitting immediately to the right of A. The number of people sitting between I and F is the same as the number of people sitting between F and B. H is sitting four places away from E, who is not an immediate neighbour of C. Only one person is sitting between D and I, and I is sitting fourth from the left end. C is sitting exactly between F and B, and B is sitting immediately to the left of H. Two people are sitting between G and F. What is the position of I with respect to G?

  1. Sixth to the right
  2. Fifth to the left
  3. Immediate left
  4. Third to the right

Correct answer: Fifth to the left

Solution

Using the clue that I is fourth from the left end and only one person sits between D and I, the relative positions of D and A can be fixed. Then the conditions involving B, C, H, and G determine the full arrangement. From the final arrangement, I is fifth to the left of G.
