ExamsIBPS POReasoning

Seven persons, P, Q, R, S, T, U, and V, are sitting in a row facing north but not necessarily in the same order. These people are from seven different cities, namely Jaipur, Nasik, Patna, Agra, Surat, Shimla, and Ranchi, but not necessarily in the same order. V is sitting fourth to the left of the person from Ranchi, who is not sitting at any of the extreme ends. Only one person is sitting between T and V. T and V are from Patna and Jaipur, but not necessarily in the same order. R is sitting fourth to the right of P, who is an immediate neighbour of T. One person is sitting between P and S. S is not an immediate neighbour of the person from Ranchi. The person from Nasik is sitting third to the left of the person from Jaipur. The person from Agra is sitting third to the left of Q. The person from Shimla is not sitting on any of the extreme ends. Who is from Surat?

  1. R
  2. S
  3. Q
  4. U

Correct answer: R

Solution

This is a linear seating arrangement combined with city assignment. Using the clues, the positions of V, Ranchi, T, P, and R can be fixed, and then the city constraints narrow down the remaining assignments. The only person who fits the city of Surat is R.
