A person moving through a tuberculosis-prone zone has a 50% probability of becoming infected. However, only 30% of infected people develop the disease. What percentage of people moving through a tuberculosis-prone zone remain infected but do not show symptoms of the disease?
- 15
- 33
- 35
- 37
Correct answer: 35
Solution
50% become infected. Of those infected, 30% develop the disease, so 70% remain infected without symptoms. Therefore the required percentage is \(50\% \times 70\% = 35\%\).
